The Daily Teaser …

Hmmmm …

I’ve got to admit, I’ve got the third episode of the 2009 version of The Prisoner, and this episode is shaping up a lot better than the earlier two: possibly where I”m less distracted, but don’t quote me on that … !

Anyway, let’s move on, shall we … ?

Yesterday’s teaser saw Trevor and Andrea — bless ’er— going head to head, with both scoring 6 out of 6, Trevor bagging the Official First-in-Clap, and Andrea bagging the Quotes Kudos.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we … ? Here they are, along with the ‘How To’ and License

Q1) 3rd May saw the release of Raja Harishchandra, the film that marked the start of the Indian film industry: in which year of the 20th Century was this? (Oh, I can’t resist this … here* … )

Q2) Just as a follow on, what’s the nickname of the Indian film industry … ?

Q3) 3rd May, 1494, saw Christopher Columbus sight the island that was eventually to become known as … what … ?

Q4) 3rd May, 1968, saw surgeons in Marylebone, London, conduct the UK’s first …what … ?

Q5) 3rd May, 1867, saw the Hudson’ Bay Company give up it’s claims to … where … ?

Q6) And finally … 3rd, 1951, saw the first television broadcast of which race?

And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 2nd May, 2001, saw two auction houses charged with overcharging customers: name either.
A1) Christies and Southeby’s.

Q2) 2nd May, 1946, saw the start of an unsuccessful escape attempt: from which US prison?
A2) Alcatraz.

Q3) More to the point, this escape attempt later became known as what?
A3) The ‘Battle of Alcatraz’.

Q4) 2nd May, 1729, saw the birth of which Russian ruler?
A4) Catherine the Great.

Q5) Today also saw the birth of author, E. E. ‘Doc’ Smith: name either of the two series of science fiction novels he became famous for writing.
A5) Skylark and Lensmen.

Q6) And finally … 2nd May, 1985, saw the birth of which English singer/songwriter?
A6) Lily Allen.

Enjoy those, everyone. I’ll catch you later … !

* If I’ve understood it correctly, the song’s called — I think — Dewangi Dewangi Om Shanti Om, and it’s the big floor filler from the film, Om Shanti Om
