The Daily Teaser …

You know, I’ve got to confess, I’ve got the news on, at the moment.

Well …

I’ve got the BBC News channel on.

They’re doing the by-now-traditional review of the Sunday papers.

And claims from a certain Tony Blair that he was a peace-maker … ? Were met with a certain amount of polite scepticism.

I know I wasn’t exactly enamoured of the guy, that’s a certainty …

And less so, after the whole invasion of Iraq.

We — the western allies — may have done some objective good in helping oust Saddam Hussain.

But I personally … ?

Still believe that, however good an excuse the War On Terror may have been, feel that the basis for the invasion — Hussain’s alleged Weapons of Mass Destruction — was extremely shaky, at the very best.

But let’s move on, shall we? Before I start to really rant and totally spoil the morning … !

‹‹‹◊›››

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Trevor, Kaiju and AlexandraFunFit all putting their answers in: it saw both Trevor and Kaiju bagging seven out of seven and Alexandra keeping up her personal batting average, by scoring 3 points.

And, yes, Alexandra, I would love to pay people: or, at least, hand out prizes.

Will good intentions count … ? Oh, and going down on one knee and looking suitably apologetic … ?

I hope so …

Anyway, let’s move on, shall we? By seeing how everyone does with today’s questions. Here they are, along with the ‘How To’ and License

Q1) 29th August, 1541, saw a force of Ottoman Turks capture which Hungarian city: Buda, Pest or Óbuda … ?

Enjoy those, everyone: I’ll catch you later.

Once I’ve finished the post about last night’s movie … !!

Oh, and what do you think of the DeLorean I photoed, yesterday … ? You don’t see those, every day … !

“At my age the only problem is with remembering names. When I call everyone darling, it has damn all to do with passionately adoring them, but I know I'm safe calling them that. Although, of course, I adore them too.”

“There's nothing more important in making movies than the screenplay.”

“Well, you cannot think of cinema now, and you cannot think of cinema in the UK and not place Chaplin in the most extraordinary elevated context, if there can be such a thing, in that he was a genius, he was unique.”

“I believe in trade unionism, and I believe in democracy, in democratic trade unionism.”

“I'm a passionate trade unionist.”

“I think it is obscene that we should believe that we are entitled to end somebody's life, no matter what that person has supposedly done or not done.”

3. This one all sentient Americans know without consulting Google: Katrina. (My mom, uncle and I left New Orleans late afternoon of August 28, 2005, just ahead of Katrina. My promise to my mom was "If we don't get out before that hurricane hits, I'm pointing this rental car west, and I'll keep driving! Hertz can pick up their car in LA!" When we boarded our plane, it struck me how calm everyone was. Katrina had already hit in Mississippi by then. The hurricane was just hours away, and predicted to be a CAT 4 or 5. The next day, safe back at home, we watched in horror at what was happening to the city we loved.)
