The Daily Teaser — 9-12-2012

Hmmm …

You know, it sounds like that Prank call’s having … let’s call them repercussions.

Or, at least, earning the two Australian presenters concerned, something of a backlash.

Seemingly, their radio station’s site has had a few comments, as had their Facebook page.

The two presenters … ?   Well … I think we can safely say their careers are in doubt, let’s put it that way …

Let’s move on, shall we … ?

~~~~~
Yesterday’s Teaser saw both Debbi and Pink Fluff* putting in their answers.   With Fluff telling us she found the Capchas used here to be slightly tricky, and Debbiº informing us her Sam McRae Indiegogo Project has hit its target $5, 000, it saw Fluff bagging 3 out of 5 and Debbi scoring 5.
Let’s see how they — and you — do with today’s questions, shall we?   Here they are, along with the ‘How To’, License and video …
Q1) 9th December, 1922, saw Gabriel Narutowicz named as the first president of the Second Republic … of where … ?
Q2) 9th December, 1960, saw the broadcast of the first episode of the world’s longest running TV soap opera: what’s it called … ?
Q3) More to the point, the soap is set in a fictional area of where: Greater Manchester, Greater London or Greater Birmingham … ?
Q4) 9th December, 1952, saw heavy fog clear after 4 days: in which British city?
Q5) 9th December, 1965, saw an apparent UFO crash in Pittsburgh.   What — in 2005 — did NASA admit it was … ?
Q6) And finally … 9th December, 1851, saw the first YMCA open in North America: in which Canadian city … ?
And here’s yesterday’s Lennon-themed questions and answers …
Q1) 8th November, 1980, saw John Lennon shot: what was the name of the man who shot him … ?
A1) Mark Chapman.
Q2) In which well known New York landmark were Lennon’s ashes scattered … ?
A2) Central Park.
Q3) That landmark contains New York’s official memorial to John Lennon: what’s that memorial called … ?
A3) Strawberry Fields.
Q4) What was the name of John Lennon’s first single to be released separately from The Beatles … ?
A4) Give Peace A Chance: although it’s usually considered a solo single: it’s credited to The Plastic Ono Band.
Q5) And finally … what was the name of the last single Lennon released, during his lifetime … ?
A5) (Just Like) Starting Over.
Enjoy those, everyone.
As today is the birthday of Bonzo Dog Doo Dah member — and occasional vocalist — Neil Innes, I’ll leave you with their classic song: as he did the vocals for it …
Shame that was their only hit, in a way: the Humanoid Boogie was a far better tune.
I’ll ALSO leave you with this quote from Douglas Fairbanks Jr …
“I was only saying to the Queen the other day how I hate name dropping …”
Douglas Fairbanks Jr, December 9, 1909 – May 7, 2000
*        Fluff, I THINK you’d need to talk to Google about that: I DO know it’s help keep the spambots off … !
º        Wow! Congratulations, Debbiª: I want to hear about when the project takes off … ! :D
ª        I’d ALSO suggest that — much like Dirk Gently — you use the change for a holiday in the Bahamas: it’s very helpful for the creative process.   REALLY … !
Ah! The project will be starting soon.
First order of business is to prepare the acknowledgements for the new edition of IDENTITY CRISIS and decide whether to have a copyeditor review the text. No rest for the weary! :)
And, of course, I've started writing the 4th book.
1. Poland
2. Coronation Street
3. Greater Manchester
4. London
5. a Russian satellite
6. Montreal, Quebec
