the Daily Teaser — 14-10-2013

You know, that — purely from the view point of an armchair historian, like me — is fascinating stuff.

Bless ’em, the BBC have done a documentary series about the old Ottoman empire: I’ve got episode 2 on, as we speak.

It’s — literally — an eye-popping piece of work.

Both the series, capably presented by Rageh Omar.

And the Empire, itself.   Who, it turns out, were negotiating with Elizabeth 1st, not long after her excommunication by the pope.

And had managed — by a metaphorical whisker — to miss conquering Vienna.

It only makes you wonder, doesn’t it … ?
