The Daily Teaser — 16-12-2013: The Boston Tea Party

You know, Christmas time can be good: especially when it comes down to seeing family.

Really.

It’s one of the few times of year I get to see my aging Aunty Bella, over in Kent.

Complete with the rest of my end of the family, including my nephew Jude.

Bella, bless ’er, managed to do her usual job of charming the rocks off Jude.

Although, admittedly, with the help of a box of jelly babies: which Jude immediately proceeded to hand out to everyone.

Except Aunty Anna, me and Ruth’s sister.

Possibly, we’re not going to hear the last of that … !

At any rate … ?   At any rate, I think Jude was (possibly) also impressed by Aunty Bella’s garden.   Complete with foxes, I should add.

Let’s get moving on …

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: along with letting us know she’d thought of using Annie Oakley or Calamity Jane as characters, also scoring six out of seven.

Let’s see how she — and you — do with today’s Bostonian questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the ‘How To,’ license and video …

Q1) 16th December was the date — during the American Revolution — of the Boston Tea Party.   Boston is in now what’s which US state … ?
Q2) In which year of the 1770s did the Tea Party take place?
Q3) The incident kicked off the American Revolution: in which the colonists fought for independence from which empire?
Q4) How many American colonies were there, at the time … ?
Q5) Name one of those colonies …
Q6) The protesting colonists famously declared “No Taxation Without … ” … what … ?
Q7) That line was also the informal motto of the Sons Of Liberty.   The noted silversmith who was a member, was Paul … who … ?
Q8) Tea was exported to four cities in the American colonies by various British firms: one of those cities being Boston.   Name one of the other cities.
Q9) According to one historian, the phrase Boston Tea Party didn’t appear in print until which year of the 1830s?
Q10) Finally … the American colonies declared Independence in which year of the 1770s?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 15th December, saw the death of Chief Sitting Bull: at which Reservation … ?
Q2) In which year of the 1890s?
A2) 1890.
Q3) Sitting Bull was a chief of the Hunkpapa Lakota: a branch of which tribe … ?
A3) The Sioux.
Q4) Sitting Bull famously made an accurate prediction: about which battle, during the Indian Wars?
Q5) He also participated — in 1885 — in who’s Wild West show … ?
Q6) During that period, he also — informally — adopted whom: Calamity Jane, Annie Oakley or Belle Starr … ?
Q7) Finally … Sitting Bull’s death was a contributing factor in which battle … ?
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“The truth is, all might be free if they valued freedom, and defended it as they ought.”
Samuel Adams, one of the men responsible for the Boston Tea Party.
And, inevitably, the one song appropriate for the question set …

Have a good day …

*        That could be something to see, Debbi!!   (Actually, did you ever see a series called Deadwood … ?   Calamity Jane cropped in it, played by Robin Weigert.   I think we can safely say ‘eyewateringly foul-mouthed’ would be understating things … !)
