The Daily Teaser — 3-4-2015

You know I’m a film watcher, don’t you … ?

I am: and one that tends to write about them, afterwards.

If you look under the various tags at the bottom of the page — especially the films, film, movie or movies ones — you’ll find the various posts I’ve done about them, over the years.

You’ll ALSO find the post I did about last night’s film: The Babadook.

I’d like you to read that post.   I think I’ve done a nicely written one about the film.

I’m not too worried, though.

So long as — and this is the important bit — so long as you watch The Bababdook.

It’s probably one of the three best films I’ve seen.

But let’s move on, shall we?

Time’s a-wasting!

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: and scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video …

Q1) 3rd March, 1575, saw Emperor Akbar and his forces defeat a Bengali Army: in the Battle of Tukaroi.   Which Empire did Akbar rule?
Q2) 3rd March, 1865, saw the founding of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank: now, generally known as the HSBC.   Hong Kong and Shanghai are in which country?
Q3) 3rd March saw the discovery of oil in Saudi Arabia.   In which year of the 1930s?
Q4) 3rd March, 1969, saw the launch of the Apollo 9 rocket.   What did NASA want to test with this launch: Teflon coatings, Unix or the lunar modules?
Q5) Finally … 3rd March, 1997, saw the Sky Tower, the largest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere, open.   Which country is the Tower in?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 2nd March, 1797, saw the Bank of England issue the first £1 and £2 notes.   The UK’s currency is the pound … what?
A1) Sterling.
Q2) 2nd March, 1939, saw Eugenio Pacelli elected as Pope.   What name did he take, upon election?
A2) Pius 12th.
Q3) Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, San Marino, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan all joined what: on the 2nd March, 1992?
A3) The United Nations: or UN.
Q4) 2nd March, 1995, saw researchers announce they’d found the Top Quark.   Is that quark a sub-atomic particle, a cosmic ray or a new chemical element?
A4) A sub-atomic, or elementary particle.   (It’s distinct from the bottom particle.   One or two friends of mine are looking at those particle names: and smirking.   STOP THAT!!!!!)
Q5) Finally … Compact Discs were released outside of Japan: on 2nd March, 1983.   What’s the maximum playing time of a CD: 80 minutes, 90 minutes or 100 minutes?
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“We are the cosmos made conscious and life is the means by which the universe understands itself.”

Dr Brian Cox, born 3rd March, 1968.
And this song …

Enjoy your day.

*        Actually, Debbi, did I tell you I met a fellow called Max Hora?   He used to run The Prisoner shop, down there: fascinating chap …
