The Daily Teaser — 17-4-2015

Right …

It has to be said, I caught quite a lot of the Leader’s Debate, last night.

Yes, I know, politics can be a chore.

But on the other hand … ?

I thought it looked like it could be … well …

Entertaining.

Whether it was, or not, I really couldn’t tell you.

Personally, though … ?

Personally, I know Ed Milliband and Nichola Sturgeon did well, I’m also rather impressed with Natalie Bennett of the Greens.

Whether that will translate into votes, I really couldn’t tell you.

Come that first week in May?

We’ll have to see what happens.

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: and scoring nine out of ten.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How ToLicense and video …

Q1) 17th April, 37, saw the release of Porky’s Duck Hunt: by Warner Bros.   Which cartoon duck saw his debut in the ’toon?
Q2) Many years later, 17th April, 1951, saw the UK name its first National Park.   Which park it it?
Q3) 17th April, 1964, saw the Ford Mustang debuted at the New York World’s Fair.   The Mustang was named after what: a wild horse, an island or a plane?
Q4) 17th April, 2014, saw the public announcement of the discovery of Kepler 186-f: an Earth sized planet in its star’s habitable zone.   The star the planet is orbiting is in which constellation: Cygnus, Leo or Orion?
Q5) Finally … 17th April, 1837, saw the birth of financier and banker, J. P. Morgan.   In 1892, he oversaw the mergers that saw the formation of which modern US company: General Electric, JP Morgan Chase or A T and T?
And here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 16th April saw the conviction of the Great Train Robbers: in which year of the 1960s?
A1) 1964.
Q2) More to the point, in which year was the robbery carried out?
A2) 1963.
Q3) How many of the Robbers were sentenced, that day?
A3) 12.
Q4) Who was the leader of the Robbers?
Q5) He was eventually sentenced — in 1968 — to 25 years: eventually serving some nine years.   He was released in 1978: from which Kent prison?
Q6) Roughly how much — in used bank notes —  was stolen: £2.6 million,  £3.6 million or £4.6 million?
A6) £2.6 million.   (That’s just over £48 million, in today’s money.)
Q7) What was the name of the farm the Robbers used as a hideout?
A7) Leatherslade Farm.
Q8) Which (relatively minor) member of the gang famously lived in Brazil for many years: after escaping from HMP Wandsworth?
Q9) Which of the Robbers was the group’s Treasurer: and ended his days, shot dead in Marbella, Spain?
Q10) Finally … who headed the police squad that investigated the Great Train Robbery?
A10) Detective Chief Superintendent Thomas Marius Joseph ‘Tommy’ Butler.
I’ll leave you with this observation …
“I put quite a few trees in last autumn. A lot of silver birch and a couple of native trees - just generally doing gardening, putting plants in and hedges in. It takes quite a lot of time and I love it.”

Sean Bean, born 17 April 1959.
And this tune …

Have a good day: personally, I’ll be at work, raising more money for charity …

*        You should’ve seen them BEFORE the big pop make-over, Debbi† … !

†        Oh, they did a cover of Pop Muzik, back in 2010: shame it was never bigger …
