The Daily Teaser — 4-4-2016

Blimey …

I think I’ve started something.

Bless ’im, my nephew was over, yesterday: which was nice.

I’ve managed to get him interested in Sonic The Hedgehog, on the Apple TV.

Which will possibly get me in trouble: he managed to turn around and say “Mummy, can we get one of these?   I’m getting really good at this!”

Actually, while we’re ON the subject of technology … ?

My local Sainsburys … ?   Now has a record department.

Well, it’s got a stand with a lot of albums on.

Old fashioned, vinyl, LPs.

I’m …

Well, I’m not sure WHAT to think.

But … ?

Well, frankly, it’s as if CDs never got invented!

And frankly … ?

£18•99 for a copy of Hunky Dory, when it’s on iTunes for £8•99, is a bit much!

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* putting in her answers: scoring six out of six in the process.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 4th April, 188AD, saw the birth of Marcus Aurelius Severus Antoninus Augustus: better remembered as which Roman Emperor?
Q2) 4th April, 1581, saw who knighted for completing a round the world voyage?
Q3) 4th April, 1850, saw a suspicious fire hit the small English village of Cottenham.   The village is in which English county?
Q4) Which notorious paramilitary group was founded: on 4th April, 1925?
Q5) Finally … Which Space Shuttle was launched on its maiden voyage: on 4th April, 1983?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 3rd April, 2010, saw Apple release the first version of its iPad device.   The iPad is what: a desktop, laptop or tablet?
A1) A tablet.
Q2) US courts ruled against Microsoft, in an anti-trust case: on 3rd April, 2000.   Part of the case centred on its web-browser: what was it called?
Q3) In the latest version of Microsoft Windows, it’s been replaced by a new web-browser: called what?
A3) Microsoft Edge.
Q4) 3rd April, 1973, saw Martin Cooper make the world’s first mobile phone call: on a prototype mobile phone.   Cooper worked for which tech company: Apple, Motorola or Nokia?
A4) Motorola.   (Ironically … ?   Motorola made their initial money as chip makers: some of Their original processors were used in the original line of Macintoshes.)
Q5) 3rd April, 1045, saw Edward the Confessor crowned.   As king of where: England, Scotland or Wales?
A5) England.
Q6) 3rd April, 33AD, is one of two dates scholars feel would’ve seen the crucifixion of Christ.   What’s the other?
Q7) Finally … 3rd April, 2008, saw Texas police cordon off the YFZ Ranch: in response to phone calls.   The ranch was occupied by fundamentalist what: Muslims, Mormons or neo-pagans?
A7) Mormons.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“I made my way on to a grey list, a black list even. That’s something I’m very proud of, actually.”
Elmer Bernstein, April 4, 1922 – August 18, 2004.
And this tune …

Have a good day.

*        Here’s hoping you don’t get held up, again, Olga!   (Oh, the game controller should be TOO bad, used with Sonic The Hedgehog.   I’d only be using five out of the available fourteen buttons.   And Jude would probably appreciate it: using the remote to access was something he found tricky.   Although he got the basic concept.)
