Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 29-12-2016: Wounded Knee

Good lord …

The world’s a sad place, at times.

Especially this year: it’s seen much personal loss.

It’s seen much public loss, too.

Bowie … Prince … Leonard Cohen …

Carrie Fisher …

And, literally, the day after Carrie Fisher … ?

Her mother, the film star, Debbie Reynolds.

The world … is a sadder place …

But let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in their answers: with both scoring ten out of ten.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s themed questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 29th December was the date of the Wounded Knee Massacre.   The Massacre was in which year?
Q2) The murdered Native Americans were members of which tribe: the Naragansett, the Comanche or the Lakota Sioux?
Q3) Which US regiment was involved?
Q4) Wounded Knee, itself, is a creek in the Pine Ridge Reservation.   Creek and Reservation are in which US state?
Q5) Finally … Both House of the US Congress passed a resolution: admitting to deep regret about the Massacre.   In which year?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …
Q1) 28th December saw the consecration of the original Westminster Abbey.   In which year: 1064, 1065 or 1066?
A1) 1065.
Q2) Which king commissioned it: Edward the Confessor, Ethelred the Unready, Richard the Lionheart or Ludwig the Tree?
Q3) Which King ordered the current version built: Henry 2nd, Henry 3rd or Henry 4th?
A3) Henry 3rd.   (Both Kings wanted to be buried in it.)
Q4) The Abbey’s in which part of London: the City of London, Hackney or Westminster?
Q5) Traditionally, British monarchs have done what in the abbey: been buried, got married or been crowned?
A5) Been crowned.
Q6) Is the Abbey an abbey … or a cathedral?
A6) Despite the name, it’s neither.   It’s actually a Royal Peculiar, and collegiate Church.
Q7) Westminster is dedicated to whom: Saint Peter, Saint Paul or Saint Joseph?
A7) Saint Peter.
Q8) John Hall is the senior churchman in charge of Westminster Abbey.   What office does he hold?
A8) The Dean of Westminster.
Q9) Poets, writers and musicians are buried in the Abbey: in Poet’s Corner.   Who was the first literary figure buried there?
A9) Geoffrey Chaucer.   (Strictly speaking?   He got the grave as one of the men who built Westminster Palace.)
Q10) Finally … One feature of the Abbey was built by Harrison and Harrison.   Which feature?
A10) The Abbey’s mighty Organ.
I’ll leave you with this thought …
“And I can see that something else died there in the bloody mud, and was buried in the blizzard. A people’s dream died there.”
Black Elk, December 1863 – August 19, 1950.
And this song …

Have a good day …

*        I think the less said, the better, Olga.   But, dear lord … Debbie Reynolds … !   It’s a clique to say heartbreak killed her … but …

†        I think, Debbi, that where-ever we go on the planet, SOMEONE’S going to complain about internet access.   I bet you there‘s uncontacted tribes in South America, complaining about it … !

Of course. When you normally have access, it kind of sucks to lose it. If I didn't have it to begin with, I probably wouldn't care. :)
