The Strain Series 3: Episodes 4, 5, 6 and 7 — Gone But Not Forgotten, Madness, The Battle of Central Park and Collaborators

26th December, 2016.

You know, I do like the idea of time off.

No, really.

I’ve annual leave, today: AND a day off, tomorrow.

And enough credit in my iTunes account to buy an album.

Brian Eno’s Ambient 1: Music for Airports, so you know: on of the earliest ambient albums ever made.

I can see what he means about “ignorable and interesting.”

It’s nice background music …

Nice background for what, you might ask … ?

Well … ?

I don’t know about you: but I like listening to stuff, whilst I write.

And ambient — or, at least, this specific ambient LP — seems to be good aural furniture.

The reason I’m writing?

Is that I’ve just seen a few more episodes of series three of The Strain.

And wanted to tell you about them.

Episode 4 — Gone But Not Forgotten — sees Councillor Faraldo under pressure from the press: as it’s under covered that the police are using chain-ganged conscripts to fight the Strigoi.   Whilst Fet and Setrackian kick Eph off the team, after he confesses to stealing the Occido Lumen.

Episode 5 — Madness — sees Setrackian and Quinlan doing some heavy study of the Lumen: whilst Fet usings tracking bugs and a smart phone app to trace a major nest.   All this? Whilst Eph and Dutch work out how the Strigoi communicate: whilst Eichhorst orders Palmer to keep an eye peeled for a very specific ship.

Episode 6 — The Battle of Central Park — sees Fet successfully leading a raid on the underground nest he’s found: only, by the end of the episode, to find it’s gone badly wrong.   Gus and Angel manage to escape the chain gang: whilst Eph and Dutch try monitoring Strigoi communications: only to be told Fet has found a message … from Eph’s son, Zach …

Episode 7 — Collaborators — sees Fet revealing some family history to Setrackian: whilst the pair are melting down stolen silver for a planned trap.   In exchange for his help tracking the mysterious cargo on the Aurora Cutlass, Palmer get a single dose of strigoi blood: so that he can extend his life.   Whilst Eph, Dutch and Quinlan track down the black box from the aircraft in the first series.   They need to isolate the Master‘s silent voice, in order to disrupt his communications.

Now …

Good?

I’m still not sure if I‘d completely say that.

However?   The series so far is keeping, and maintaining, my attention.

And that’s no bad thing.
