Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 20-1-2017

*Yawn.*

Again … !

I have to admit to being up, late, last night.   But wanted to catch a film.

With the result, of course, that I ended up staying up, late, doing my write up.

The film in question?

Good little film, I should add.

About my only concern … ?

Is the simple fact I’d ripped the copy I have from a work-mate’s DVD copy.

I used HandBrake: an application I’ve used for years, and usually one that’s fairly reliable.

It still is.

About the only flaw I could find?   Is that the film was formatted in a 4:3 aspect ration: and couldn’t be resized.

Out of the box, with the up-dated versions of HandBrake, that’s not a good thing.

I think, though?

I can learn how to tweak the settings, to remedy that.

Here’s hoping.

Let’s move on.

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Debbi* putting in her answers: scoring five out of five in the process.

Let’s see how she — and you — do with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) 20th January, 1356, saw Edward Balliol receive a pension from Edward 3rd of England.   After surrendering his claim to what: the principality of Wales, the throne of Scotland, or the throne of Ireland?
Q2) 20th January, 1971, saw Pakistan launch what: a chemical weapons programme, a biological weapons programme or a nuclear weapons programme?
Q3) During its second Civil War, Sudan imposed what: on 20th January, 1991?
Q4) Elizabeth of Bohemia was born: on 20th January, 1292.   Bohemia is now part of which European nation?
Q5) Finally … which actor was inaugurated as US President, on 20th January, 1981: Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter or John F. Kennedy?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) 19th January, 1839, saw the British East India Company company capture which port?
A1) Aden.
Q2) 19th January, 1915, saw Georges Claude patent the advertising version of what: the rotisserie, the neon tube or the billboard?
A2) The Neon tube.
Q3) Belinda and Kymberley were taken into care: on 19th January, 2001.   The twins had been adopted, through what: mail, container ship, or the Internet?
A3) The Internet.
Q4) You Nazty Spy was released, on 19th January, 1940.   the film satirized Adolf Hitler: and starred which comedy team?
A4) The Three Stooges.
Q5) Finally … Apple released the first commercial computer to use a graphical user interface: on 19th January, 1983.   What was that computer?
A5) The Apple Lisa.
I’ll leave you with this …
“Waiting for a 136 bus from Highgate station to Muswell Hill Broadway on a misty evening in February is a bit like lurking outside the gates of purgatory.”
Tom Baker, born 20 January 1934.
And this …

Enjoy your day … !

*        Oh, there’s a familiar face or two in that latter film, Debbi!   (The chap playing Socket, the Butler?   Is Bernard Bresslaw, who was Dr Who’s first Ice Warrior!)

Q1) The throne of Scotland
Q2) Nuclear weapons programme but it seems it was 1972
Q3) Islamic War
Q4) Czech Republic
Q5) Ronald Reagan (JFK in 1961 same date, but of course, not an actor)
I’m sure you’re heard it by now but Miguel Ferrer is dead. I didn’t know he was George Clooney’s cousin or that his mother was Rosemary Clooney
