Nik Nak’s Daily Teaser — 16-8-2017

Oh, that’s sad.

I think anyone my age?

Will have seen the original Alien, many years ago.

The thing was a huge.

A small part of that success?

Was actor, Harry Dean Stanton: his portrayal of the laconic Brett, helped make the film.

Sadly?

Harry Dean Stanton died, last night.

After a sixty year career that included AlienParis, TexasPretty in PinkRepo Man and Cool Hand Luke.   And the recent revival of Twin Peaks.

He’ll be missed.

~≈Ç≈~

What makes it even more relevant?

And sadder?

Is that I managed to spend my first Friday off for a while, watching a film.

You can possibly work out which film, can’t you … ?

I have to admit, Alien Covenant is better than Prometheus.

And not a horror.

There’s possibly a lot about stealing fire from the gods, possibly a lot about assuming we’re god’s chosen people.

But more probably?

More probably makes the the point we make our own devils.

They’re in us …

Let’s move on, shall we?

Yesterday’s Teaser saw Olga* and Debbi† putting in her answers: with both scoring five out of five.

Let’s see how everyone does with today’s questions, shall we?

Here they are, along with the How To, License and video …

Q1) Paolo Di Lauro was arrested on 16th September, 2005.   He was a senior member of the Camorra: the version of the Mafia from which Italian city?
Q2) 16th September, 1977, saw the death of singer, Marc Bolan: in a car crash.   What was the name of the glam rock band he’d fronted?
Q3) 16th September, 1927, saw the birth of actor, Peter Falk.   Which TV detective did he play?
Q4) Two years earlier, 16th September, 1925, saw the birth of BB King.   The legendary bluesman died in which year?
Q5) Finally … the Pilgrim Fathers set off for what’s now the USA: on 16th September, 1620.   Which M was their best known ship?
Here’s yesterday’s questions and answers …

Q1) Corse was divided into two départements: on 15th September, 1975.   Corse is the French name: for which island?
A1) Corsica.
Q2) 15th September, 1944, was the second day of the Octagon Conference: held by the UK and US.   Where: Qom, Quebec City or Querétaro?
Q3) Nazi Germany adopted it’s new national flag: on 15th August, 1935.   The Flag included which ancient Indian symbol?
A3) The Swastika.
Q4) Which notorious Frenchman was taken into custody: on 15th September, 1440?
Q5) Finally … Eastern Roman Emperor, Constans 2nd, was assassinated: on 15th September, 668 AD.   Where was he: the toilet, the bath or kitchen sink?
A5) The bath.    (Edmund 2nd of England was supposed to have been assassinated on the toilet.   Give gives a new terror to being the heir to the throne …)
Here’s a thought …
“I honestly feel it could all end tomorrow. Not just the band thing — I mean life.”
Marc Bolan, 30 September 1947 – 16 September 1977.
And a song …

Today’s questions will be answered in tomorrow’s Teaser.

Enjoy your day.

*        I keep forgetting you speak Catalan, as well. Olga: it’s very easy — for a non-speaker, like me — to forget they’re two related, but different, languages.   As for de Rais … ?   I think his innocence — or lack of it — is going to be like identifying Jack the Ripper: there’s always going to be someone arguing the case for so-and-so. Supposedly, the word ‘Catalan’ comes from an ancient phrase meaning ‘Land of the Goths.’   Means you can dress in black and look miserable!

†        Funny you should mention Spanish, Debbi, I think we can find someone who can drop a few hints!   (As for screwdrivers?   I’m just wonder what Jodie Whittaker’s will look like … )

Q1) Naples
Q2) T Rex
Q3) Columbo
Q4) 2015
Q5) Mayflower
Well, at the moment the Catalan thing is all go. (It's becoming quite ridiculous, because Rajoy, the president of Spain comes out with statements such as 'Well, if they become independent they won't have me as president' so the majority of the population now want to become Catalan and move out...
I didn't hear about Harry Dean Stanton. Sad indeed. I'm sure it was all down to professionality but he seemed such a natural actor. I watched Alien, Covenant in the cinema... Now I wonder what the new Blade Runner will be like.
Yes, if you need any Spanish input, count me in!

Heh, heh. Understanding Scottish is a feat, from my perspective! :)

Even so, I could listen to David Tennant all day! Even if I didn't understand a word!

1. Naples
2. T. Rex
3. Columbo (did you know that Peter Falk and Patrick McGoohan were very close friends?)
4. 2015
5. the Mayflower

When I was a teenager, I had the biggest crush on Marc Bolan!

And I'm so sad about Harry Dean Stanton. :( #RIPHarryDeanStanton
